Holzmarkt Game
with Office Park Scheerbarth
Description
The Holzmarkt is an award winning grassroots development located along the banks of Berlin’s Spree. To highlight the complex participatory process of the beloved urban village, a game was conceived to provide insights into the intricate perspectives of all its stakeholders. Players step into a range of roles-from neighbors, to office workers, and even the humble beaver-and complete simple mission oriented tasks. Along the way they stumble across a hundred of Holzmarkt’s peculiar objects and interact with a proposed timber tower.
The game was also represented in a retrospective exhibition marking a 5-year collaboration between the architects Office ParkScheerbarth and the Holzmarkt 25 cooperative. The characters were 3D printed and placed on display at the Vaiduktgalerie in Berlin.
